AI automation for investment teams

Stop working Saturday mornings.

We automate the manual work in your research and operations workflow, inside the tools you already use, so your time goes to the decisions that move the P&L.

For hedge funds, alternative asset managers and family offices that don't have an AI team, and don't want to hire one.

Inside your workflowBloomberg, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint stay. We add to them, we don't replace them.
Build or buy, honestlyThe right tool at the right price, or a small custom build - your choice. No platform to sell you, no referral fees.
No black boxesMostly plain Python in your own cloud account. You own the code, the data and the keys.
Built by practitionersTwo decades each in investment research, plus recent experience on the bleeding edge in fintech.
What we automate

The work that fills your Saturday is the work we automate first.

Structured, repetitive, low-judgment tasks that a PM or analyst does every week. None of them move the P&L. Most of them can now be handed off to a machine, with a little plumbing. Don't hire - automate.

Earnings model refresh

The print drops, the model's inputs update, and the PM reviews the deltas instead of typing them in. Your formulas, your tabs, untouched, all in one place.

Lives in Excel · Bloomberg · FactSet

Broker and sales email digest

Two hundred research and spec-sales emails become one page of what changed, who said it, and filtered to the names you own.

Lives in Outlook · Gmail

Search your own research

Ask "what did we think about this name in 2023?" and get the memo, the model and the answer, not a folder to dig through.

Lives in SharePoint · Google drive

Alt data into your model

Card spend, web traffic or app data lands in the tab where you already work, on a schedule, cleaned and mapped to your tickers.

Lives in Excel · your data vendors

Compliance Q&A

"What is the holding period for a single-name stock?" A bot grounded in your own compliance manual answers the routine questions, so your CCO doesn't have to.

Lives in Teams · Slack · email

Investor letters and DDQs

First drafts of the monthly letter and due-diligence questionnaires, built from your own prior answers, performance numbers, and risk systems. You edit, you sign.

Lives in Word · your admin's portal

Also on the list: Custom news and transcript summaries, a personal research assistant, knowledge bots for a sector or theme, as well as Ops functions like trade reconciliation break triage, NAV package review, and automated vendor evaluation.

Who it's for

Smaller firms are cash constrained and time poor. That's the gap.

The big multi-managers built internal AI and data teams. Firms under a few billion dollars mostly didn't, and every vendor now sells an "AI" tier with no one on staff to tell what's real.

Hedge fundsRoughly $100M to $3B in assets, 2 to 50 people. Fundamental long/short equity, event-driven, credit and discretionary macro are natural fits because the work is document- and spreadsheet-heavy.
Other alternative managersPrivate credit, real assets, multi-strategy boutiques and independent research shops with the same inbox, the same models and the same missing data engineer.
Family officesSingle- and multi-family offices drowning in manager letters, capital calls and due-diligence paperwork, with a lean team that has to cover everything. Spend your time on the customer instead.
How we work

Four stages. You can buy the first one on its own.

Every engagement starts with a build-versus-buy call, so you spend on the right tool at the right price point, or on a small custom build when nothing off the shelf fits. And you keep the flexibility to upgrade when there's a better mousetrap.

Start here Stage 1

Diagnose

We shadow your team's real week. You get a ranked list of automatable tasks, the hours each one costs you, and a build-or-buy call on every line.

2 to 3 weeks · fixed fee
Stage 2

Decide

For each item: the best tool for the job. Sometimes a tool, sometimes a subscription, sometimes a small custom build.

Stage 3

Deliver

Fixed-scope implementation inside the existing workflow. Your Excel, Bloomberg, Outlook, and SharePoint stay exactly where they are — just faster.

4 to 8 weeks per sprint
Stage 4

Support

Data maintenance, vendor and model changes, and the next item on your list. A named person to call when something breaks.

Monthly retainer · cancel any time

Take the coder out of the investment team. Leave the efficiency.

Why Mosaic Macro

Practitioners, not consultants.

We have sat in the PM's seat. We know which tasks actually matter, which ones a PM will never delegate, and what a fully automated research shop looks like from the inside.

  • We keep your workflow. No platform migration, no retraining the firm, no six-month "transformation." We add to the tools you have.
  • Vendor-neutral and build-or-buy honest. We take no referral fees, so the recommendation is the cheapest thing that works.
  • You own what we build. Plain, documented Python in your own cloud account. We maintain and scale it; you can walk away with it whenever you like.
  • Sized for small firms. Fixed fees, short engagements, no minimum headcount. The large consultancies can't profitably serve a 15-person fund. We can.
  • Recent hands-on time in automated fintech. We bring the useful 20 percent of it to a fund without the culture shock.

The founders

Mosaic Macro was started by two investment-research veterans. Each spent more than twenty years as an analyst and portfolio manager at top-tier buy-side and sell-side firms, covering fundamental equities and credit. More recently each spent time inside aggressively automated fintech firms, building and running the kind of tooling that large funds take for granted.

40+years combined in investment research
2founders, both former analysts and PMs
0vendor referral fees, ever

The name is not an accident. Mosaic theory is how every fundamental analyst is trained to think: assemble many small pieces of information into a view. That is exactly what these tools do, at machine speed.

Engagements

Three shapes of work.

Fixed fees, priced by workflow rather than by the hour. The diagnostic is credited against your first build if you go ahead. We'll tell you what it costs on the first call.

Workflow diagnostic

Two to three weeks alongside your team. The lowest-risk way to find out what's worth automating.

  • Ranked automation map with hours saved per item
  • Build-or-buy call on every line, with real vendor pricing
  • A short read on your data and compliance setup
  • Credited against your first build sprint
Fixed fee · 2 to 3 weeks
Then

Build sprint

One or two workflows, implemented and documented, inside the tools you use today.

  • Fixed scope agreed up front
  • Built in your cloud account, handed over with documentation
  • Team training so it actually gets used
  • Scope grows by adding a sprint, not by surprise invoices
Fixed fee · 4 to 8 weeks
Ongoing

Support retainer

A named person to call. Maintenance, model and vendor changes, and the next item on the list.

  • Data pipelines and integrations kept running
  • Model and vendor upgrades when a better mousetrap appears
  • A monthly bank of hours for the next automation
  • Priority response
Monthly · cancel any time

Also available: vendor selection and implementation, an AI use policy your compliance officer will sign off on, half-day team workshops, and a fractional head of AI for firms that want a person rather than a project.

How we build

No black boxes.

Everything we deliver is transparent in both the tools and the method. When you buy a solution from us, you own it. We just maintain it and scale it.

Your cloud accountWe build on AWS, inside an account you own. Your data never sits in ours.
Plain PythonReadable, documented code that any engineer you hire later can pick up. No proprietary framework to be locked into.
Enterprise model termsModels from Anthropic, OpenAI and Amazon Bedrock on enterprise tiers with zero data retention. Nothing is trained on your data.
Handed over, not held hostageCode, credentials and documentation are yours from day one. Leave whenever you like and take it all with you.

In practice

What a first engagement looks like.

Three illustrative engagements at the scale we work at. Real, anonymized case studies are on the way.

Long/short equity · ~$600M

Earnings season without the Saturday

Before
Two analysts spent the first weekend of every quarter retyping reported numbers into 40 models.
What we built
A scheduled pull from their existing data vendor into each model's input tab, with a change log the PM reviews.
After
Models refreshed by Friday evening. Analysts spend the weekend on the names that surprised.
Event-driven · ~$1.2B

Two hundred emails, one page

Before
The PM triaged broker research and sales emails by hand every morning before the open.
What we built
An Outlook digest grounded in the fund's watchlist: what changed, who said it, links to the source notes.
After
Ten minutes at 7am instead of forty-five. Nothing on the watchlist gets missed.
Family office · 8 people

Find the memo, not the folder

Before
Fifteen years of investment memos and manager letters in SharePoint, searchable only by file name.
What we built
A search-and-answer layer over SharePoint, with a compliance bot on the same footing for the firm's manual.
After
"What did we think about this manager in 2019?" is a question with an answer, with the source attached.

Illustrative examples. Figures are typical of the firms we work with, not a specific client.
